Winterfest Fire & Ice | Chelan, WA

Lake Chelan is a tourist area that is about a three and a half hour drive from the Ft Lewis/JBLM area. I had heard about the town but had never been there before.

For two weekends in January Chelan host the annual

Lake Chelan Winterfest Festival. Winterfest Fire & Ice was a fun experience. I had never been to Chelan before and it was a cute little town in the middle of a valley. I loved waking up and looking out the window and seeing the lake in front of me and the hillsides surrounding me.

We stayed at Grandview on the Lake and I would highly recommend it. It was reasonably priced this time of year and the location was great. Set back from town a little bit but still walking distance to everything. And the rooms, they were amazing! We shared a two bedroom condo with my brother-in-law and his wife and there was so much room! I would absolutely stay there again.

The festival itself was interesting. There were ice sculptures in front of a lot of the businesses and around the town. They had an ice slide and a thrown also. I really liked the fact that they had fire pits around the town as well because it sure was chilly! Some activities include live music, the wine walk, ale & hard cider tasting at the ice bar, the bonfire at the beach, the polar bear splash and fireworks. We also toured the Vin Du Lac Winery. It was fun and cold and I can’t wait to go in the summer to see what it’s like then and take a dip in the lake!
