We just spent a few days at Westport and had a great time! The weather was so beautiful, the town not too crowded and the ice cream delicious! What more could you ask for?!? While we were in town they happened to be doing a car show, which little man loved! We have stayed a few times now at Vacations by the Sea and absolutely love the location and how it’s right on the beach. We also watched people crabbing at the marina and walked around on the docks. Another place place we randomly found was a restaurant called Aloha Alabama, us and the kids liked it so much that we went both days for lunch!!
Take a look below for pictures from our trip…
Since the kids were older this time, we got to do a little more exploring. We checked out the Westport Maritime Museum, which was a lot of fun. They also have a building their that houses the Destruction Island Lighthouse Light, and it was beautiful!
Another awesome adventure was climbing to the top of the Grays Harbor Lighthouse. We had never done that before because the minimum age to climb is five years old. From the top you can see not only a gorgeous view, but the small housing development for current US Coast Guard families stationed there. You can also barely see Ocean Shores and we learned that there used to be a passenger ferry that ran between Westport and Ocean Shores during the summer. Too bad that isn’t there anymore.
If you are currently stationed at JBLM, Westport is a great weekend getaway throughout the year. During the summer months there are usually a bit of events going on (one of the kids favorites is Pirate Days).
